A new tool will be released later this month by Ipswitch, developers of the WhatsUp Gold network management platform. The “Engineer’s Toolkit” promises to make day-to-day network management and troubleshooting a little easier.
The focus of the new tool is on simplifying regular tasks by grouping and organizing a wide range of functions into a single application. Tasks commonly performed together are grouped to make work flows more intuitive. Credentials for your devices can be stored, streamlining logins and saving time.
Ipswitch describes some of the features in the Engineer’s Toolkit this way:
With its broad and robust functionality, the new Engineer’s Toolkit will help monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot a vast majority of network issues including: design and planning; discovery; diagnostics; DNS verification; remote control; and configuration and credentials management.
The WhatsUp Gold Engineer’s Toolkit features a single installation and user-friendly interface and is the only toolkit that addresses this broad range of categories from a single-credential library, allowing users to access any tool without having to re-enter credentials. The toolkit also has exportable, printable and sharable reporting results to simplify troubleshooting and share with upper management and to report on activities and status.
The Toolkit looks to be a promising helper for busy network admins. It will be released as a free download during the Cisco Live show in Las Vegas starting on June 28th. In the meantime you can get more information and see screenshots on the product page. And, if you don’t yet have an iPad, Ipswitch is giving one away as a prize for registering to receive more information on the Toolset once it is released.
